Human Rights in Cuba

Rosa María Payá (Cuba Decide), Hillel Neuer (UN Watch), Alessandra Pinna (Freedom House) and Gabriel Salvia (CADAL) analyzed Cuba’s grave human rights situation in Geneva.

UN Watch, CADAL, Freedom House and Cuba Decide organized a joint conference at the UN Palais des Nations in Geneva, Switzerland just prior to Cuba’s Universal Periodic Review by the UN Human Rights Council. To access a recording of the presentations, click here.

The Universal Periodic Review (UPR) is a unique process of examination of the human rights situation in all UN Member States, once every four years. The UPR is one of the UNHRC’s key elements that holds Member States accountable for respecting and implementing all human rights and fundamental liberties. The ultimate goal of the UPE is to improve the human rights situation in all countries and to adopt measures against the violation of human rights, no matter where they occur.
