How to confront Latin American autocracies?

With the generous support of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, CADAL organized “The Democratic Challenge of Confronting 21st Century Autocracies in Latin America.” The conference took place in the antechamber of the Chamber of the Representatives of the Uruguayan Congress. Participating speakers included Uruguayan representatives Jorge Gandini, Pablo Mieres, and Rodrigo Goñi; the Venezuelan representative Dennis Fernández; and the General Director of CADAL, Gabriel Salvia. The event was moderated by journalist Romina Andrioli.

The goal of the conference was to examine the courses of action the region’s democratic governments and intergovernmental organizations can take to address situations such as those in Nicaragua, Venezuela, and Cuba.
