Assistance at the OAS General Assembly in Washington

The meeting provided an oportunity to the civil society, social actors and unions, among others to exchange with OAS Secretary General, OAS Assistant Secretary General and present their points of view about the XLV General Assembly ''Present and future of the Organization of American States'', just as the topics on the Inter-American agenda.

During 13th-14th of June, Gabriel Salvia, Chairman of CADAL, attended in the capital of United States to the activities of the civil society within the framework of the forty-fifth ordinary session of the OAS which topic was "Present and future of the Organization of American States".

The formal Dialogue with Heads of Delegations, OAS Secretary General, OAS Assistant Secretary General with the civil society took place on Sunday June 14th and focused on the General Assembly topic: "Present and future of the Organization of American States".  More specifically and taking into consideration the statement was not negotiated by the Member States at this General Assembly, the Dialogue was exclusively focused on the OAS' four pillars: Promoting Democracy, Defending Human Rights, Ensuring a Multidimensional Approach to Security  and Fostering Integral Development and Prosperity.

The spokesman from the Cuban "Arco Progresista", Manuel Cuesta  Morúa, attended as a representative next to Salvia. Both of them have participated on Saturday June 13th at the OAS' headquarters of the "Promoting Democracy" group.
