Cuesta Morúa visited the Southern Cone after the constitutional referendum in Cuba

The Cuban historian, socialdemocratic political activist and Ion Ratiu Prize 2016 visited Buenos Aires, Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Santiago de Chile, Montevideo and Lima, giving lectures, interviews to the media and meetings with intellectual and political leaders. He was received in San Pablo by Fernando H. Cardoso, former president of Brazil, and in Santiago by Ricardo Lagos, former President of Chile.

Invited by CADAL, from March 12 to April 5, the Cuban progressive reference Manuel Cuesta Morúa made an intense tour of five countries in South America.

In Buenos Aires, Cuesta Morúa participated as a speaker at the conference "The legacy of Václav Havel and international democratic solidarity", at the regional meeting of the Forum 2000 Czech Foundation and in an exchange with academics, politicians and diplomats from Argentina and Latin America to analyze the political perspectives in Cuba.

In San Pablo, Manuel Cuesta Morúa held a conference at the Fernando Henrique Cardoso Foundation and later had a meeting with the former President of Brazil. He was interviewed by Folha de San Pablo and held other meetings, among them Frantisek Fleisman, Czech Consul in that city and recipient of the Award to Committed Diplomacy in Cuba 2013-2014. For his part, in Rio de Janeiro he offered a conference at the Midrash Cultural Center, at the Brazilian Center for International Relations (CEBRI) and held an interview with O'Globo.

In Santiago de Chile, Cuesta Morúa gave a presentation at Chile21 Foundation. He was received by former President Ricardo Lagos at the headquarters of the Democracy and Development Foundation, held meetings with political and social leaders such as Sergio Bitar, José Antonio Viera-Gallo, Ricardo Brodsky and Viviana Giacaman, with young people from the Socialist Party and was received by Mariana and Miguel Aylwin at the Patricio Aylwin Foundation. Cuesta Morúa was interviewed in FM Sonar by the journalist Patricio Fernández and by the newspaper El Mercurio.

In the capital of Uruguay, Manuel Cuesta Morúa was received by Senator Rafael Michelini, he had an exchange with researchers from the Political Science Institute of the University of the Republic and a meeting with the diplomat Nelson Fernández. In Montevideo, Cuesta Morúa also met with Senator Pablo Mieres and congresswoman Gloria Rodríguez, and was interviewed by journalist Gerardo Sotelo on Radio Carve and by the newspaper El País.

In Lima, the Cuban opposition participated in a conference about the political situation in Latin America at the headquarters of the Popular Christian Party, met with Congressmen Gino Costa and Jorge Del Castillo, held a meeting with Lourdes Flores - a former presidential candidate - and was interviewed on radio Santa Rosa by journalist Rosa María Palacios and on Channel N by journalist Mijael Garrido Lecca. .
