Every year, specialists on Latin American affairs meet at the LASA International Congress. With more than 900 sessions, the Congress is the world’s leading forum for expert debate on Latin America and the Caribbean. The LASA is the largest professional association in the world that brings together individuals and institutions dedicated to the study of Latin America. With more than 12,000 members, of which nearly sixty percent reside outside the United States, LASA is the association that brings together Latin American experts from all disciplines and various occupational areas around the world. LASA’s mission is to promote intellectual debate, research and teaching about Latin America, the Caribbean and its inhabitants throughout the Americas; promote the interests of their diverse membership and encourage civic engagement through networking and public debate.
Sybil Rhodes participated as an exhibitor on a panel on “International Cooperation Policies in South America: Recent History and Expectations”. In this panel, she spoke on “Migration Governance in South America”. For his part, the General Director attended panels that addressed issues of importance to CADAL, such as those in Cuba and those of democracy in Latin America.
