Marcelo Cavarozzi joins CADAL’s Academic Council

Marcelo Cavarozzi, political scientist and main researcher of CONICET, specialized in comparative politics of Latin America and in capitalism-democracy dynamics, joins CADAL’s team as a member of the Academic Council. Led by Sabrina Ajmechet, the body now has twenty-one members. Cavarozzi’s new incorporation is in line with CADAL’s permanent commitment to enrich the public debate on human rights and international solidarity.

CADAL is pleased to announce that Marcelo Cavarozzi joins the team as a member of the Academic Council of the organization.

Cavarozzi holds a PhD in Political Science from University of California, Berkeley, USA. He specializes in comparative politics in Latin America and in capitalism-democracy dynamics.

He is a senior researcher at the National Council of Scientific and Technical Research (in Spanish, CONICET) in the School of Politics and Government at the National University of San Martín (in Spanish, UNSAM), where he previously served as Dean. He was a researcher and director of the Center for the Study of State and Society (in Spanish, CEDES) and associate researcher of the Center for Research in Public Administration (in Spanish, CIAP) at Instituto Torcuato Di Tella.

He also consulted with international agencies such as the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the World Bank, among others, on policy reform processes and public sector modernization plans.

He is the author of numerous books and magazine articles. In addition, he was recognized by The Rockefeller Foundation, the Ford Foundation and the Social Science Research Council, among others, from which he received scholarships and grants for his work. Meanwhile, he was awarded the Konex Diploma of Merit and the Honorary Doctorate of the UNSAM.

Directed by Sabrina Ajmechet, CADAL's Academic Council now has twenty-one outstanding members, each one a reference in their field. Its members are: Andrés Cañizález, Marcelo Cavarozzi, Liliana De Riz, Sergio Fausto, Matías Franchini, Carlos Gervasoni, Magdalena López, Adrián Lucardi, Jaime Malamud Goti, Julio Montero, Patricio Navia, Cecilia Noce, Marcos Novaro, Romeo Pérez Antón, Fernando J. Ruiz, Bernardo Sorj, Jorge M. Streb, Eduardo Ulibarri, Eduardo Viola and Loris Zanatta.
