The 2012 Edition of the Latin-American José Ignacio García Hamilton Academic Extension Programme ended with a class delivered by Bernabé García Hamilton. A total of 20 lessons was delivered throughout the programme with the participation of 20 speakers: Martín Almeida, Hernán Rodríguez Vagaría, Eduardo Cagnoni, Jorge Elías, Marcelo Loprete, Manuel Mora y Araujo, Raúl Ferro, Marcos Novaro, Sybil Rhodes, Fernando Ruiz, Patricio Navia, Gabriela Ippolito-O'Donnell, Romeo Pérez Antón, Horacio Fernández, Gabriel Salvia, Hernán Alberro, Carlos Gervasoni, Tomás Linn, Gabriel Palumbo and Bernabé García Hamilton. The Programme started on April 5th and ended on October 3rd, and 9 of its participants were awarded a certificado of attendance for having attended a minimum of 75% of lessons.
Bernabé did law at the Buenos Aires University (UBA) and a Master’s degree in Business Law at the ESEADE Economics and Business School. He is also Associate Professor at UBA’s faculty of Law and Social Sciences, where he teaches “Analysis of Economy”, and at the Business and Social Sciences University (UCES). He is also coursework supervisor for the subject of “Civil and Commercial Contracts” at UBA’s Law and Social Sciences faculty, where Carlos A. Ghersi is head of department. Contributor in the book “Civil and Commercial contracts”, Ghersi, Carlos and contributors (Astrea); and Co-Author of the “Case law Analysis Works”. “Civil and Commercial Contracts”, Ghersi, Carlos and Contributors. He is associate lawyer at the García Hamilton-Bergthal law firm and Director of CADAL’s Academic Board.

José Ignacio García Hamilton (1943-2009). A lawyer and doctor in Law and Social Sciences, he was a lecturer at the Buenos Aires University, a journalist and a writer. His essay on “The origins of our authoritarian (and unproductive) culture” was awarded with a number of prizes and invitations to speak at the universities of Wisconsin, Loyola, Johns Hopkins, Maryland, Yeshiva and Ripon in the US. He also received a diploma for his biographical novel of Juan B. Alberdi, “Vida de un ausente” from the Konex Foundation which a merit award asone of the five literary figures of the 1984-1994 decade in the category of Biographies and Memoires. He also gave lectures on his other work, “Cuyano alborotador, la vida de Domino Faustino Sarmiento”, in New York and Washington. He was a member of the National Parliament for the Unión cívical Radical party (UCR) from 2007 until 2009, Vicepresident of the Raoul Wallenberg Foundation and actively participated in a various events organised by CADAL.
