CADAL Participates in LASA Conference in Barcelona

Every year, specialists in Latin American affairs meet at the LASA International Congress. With more than 900 sessions, the Congress is the main global forum for expert debate on Latin American and the Caribbean affairs. This year, Gabriel Salvia and Adrián Lucardi, General Director and Director of the Academic Council at CADAL, respectively, were in attendance.

The Congress took place from May 23rd through the 26th. On the last day, political scientist Leandro Querido provided a critical analysis of the electoral system as presented in his book “This is How You Vote in Cuba.”

Cuban historian and winner of the 2016 Ion Ratiu Prize Manuel Cuesta Morúa also attended the Congress upon invitation from CADAL.

The Latin American Studies Association (LASA) is the largest professional association in the world that brings together individuals and institutions that are dedicated to the study of Latin America. With more than 12,000 members, of which almost sixty percent reside outside of the United States, LASA unites experts in all disciplines and occupations. LASA’s mission is to foster intellectual debate, research, and education on Latin America, the Caribbean, and their inhabitants.
