Created in October 2001 by a distinguished group of experts in international relations and human rights, the Committee for Human Rights in North Korea (HRNK), seeks to promote human rights in North Korea. Research activities and dissemination of the Committee focus on how North Korea's totalitarian regime violates the rights of its citizens in its vast system of political prisons and forced labor camps, the refusal of the regime to provide equal access to food and products, and the suffering of refugees fleeing to China.

At the meeting they discussed the activities of both organizations and how to synergize the work of those who work for the international promotion of human rights. The HRNK and CADAL are part of the International Coalition to Stop Crimes against Humanity in North Korea (ICNK).

At the headquarters of CADAL, Greg Scarlatoiu was interviewed by the official news agency Telam.
