The challenges of Mercosur

CADAL organized a conference at the Claridge Hotel in Buenos Aires, on ''The challenges of the world trade and the future of Mercosur''.

On Tuesday July 18th, two days before the Summit of Mercosur that took place in the city of Cordoba, CADAL organized a conference at the Claridge Hotel in Buenos Aires, on "The challenges of the world trade and the future of Mercosur". The speeches were in charge of Pedro Isern and Isidoro Hodara and the closure was made by Ricardo López Göttig. In the audience there were, among others, the diplomatic representatives of Germany, Austria, France, Chile, Norway, Slovenia, Japan, Ukraine, Taiwan, Armenia and Rumania.

The conference began with the presentation of the 10 edition of Perspectiva - Revista Latinoamericana de Política, Economía y Sociedad, in charge of Gabriel C. Salvia, Chairman of Center for the Opening and Development of Latin America (CADAL) and member of the Editorial Council of Perspectiva.

Following, Pedro Isern Munné, Director of the Area Economics and Rule of Law of CADAL, gave a speech on "Institutions and economic integration in Latin America and the access of Venezuela to Mercosur" (See the powerpoint).

On his turn, Isidoro Hodara, Economist, Profesor of ORT University from Uruguay and International Consultant, referred to "MERCOSUR: less statements and more transformations" (See the presentation).

The end of the conference was in charge of Ricardo López Murphy, Economist and Chairman of Recrear para el Crecimiento.

Felix Peña, Chairman of Fundación BankBoston with Avgustin Vivod, Ambassador of Slovenia, and Gudrun Graf, Ambassador of Austria.
