Foro Latino Global 2009

Framed within the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, CADAL organized at Regal Pacific Hotel Buenos Aires, the 2009 edition of Foro Latino Global. The event was inaugurated by Bogdan Borusewicz, President of the Senate of the Republic of Poland, former disident and member of Solidarity, and then it included the panels: “Democratic governance, institutional quality and economic performance in Central and Eastern Europe, 1989-2009” and “Latin America 20 years after the fall of the Berlin Wall”.

The Foro Latino Global 2009 was inaugurated by Bogdan Borusewicz, President of the Polish Senate, former disident and member of Solidarity.

The first panel of Foro Latino Global 2009 was moderated by Tristán Rodríguez Loredo, Director of the Advisory Council of CADAL, and analyzed the subject of "Democratic governance, institutional quality and economic performance in Central and Eastern Europe, 1989-2009", with presentations in charge of S.E. Ion Vilcu, Ambassador of Romania; S.E. Pavel Sipka, Ambassador of Slovakia; S.E. Stepan Zajac, Ambassador of Czech Republic; S.E. Avgustin Vivod, Ambassador of Slovenia; and Jan Freigang, First Secretary of the Federal Republic of Germany.

The second panel was moderated by José del Río, Journalistic Director of Apertura Magazine, and focused on the analysis of "Latin America 20 years after the fall of the Berlin Wall" with presentations by Ricardo López Göttig, Director of CADAL's Academic Council; writer Marcos Aguinis; Congressman and former Prime Minister of Peru, Jorge Del Castillo; and Christopher Sabatini, Editor-in-Chief, Americas Quarterly - Senior Director of Policy Americas Society/Council of the Americas.
