Closing of the 2024 Goodbye Lenin Program

CADAL and Konrad Adenauer Foundation organized at the German Club in the City of Buenos Aires, the closing activity of this year’s Goodbye Lenin Program with the presentation of the Milada Horáková Awards and a lecture on «The Uyghur Genocide».

The first part of the program consisted of a series of six webinars that took place from May 14 to 30. The program's lecturers were historian Ricardo López Göttig, journalists Ignacio Hutin and Juan Pablo Cardenal, Cuban activist Camila Rodríguez and internationalist María de los Ángeles Lasa.

 

Prior to the awards ceremony, held at the German Club, an interview with David Mrnka was screened, director of the film “Milada”, who was interviewed by journalist Jorge Elías as part of CADALTV’s interview series “Cuarto de Hora” (Quarter of an Hour). Milada Horáková was sent to a concentration camp by the Nazis, where she managed to survive, but in 1950 she was executed for her opposition to the communist dictatorship.

Filip Kanda, Deputy Chief of Mission of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Argentina; Sybil Rhodes, president of CADAL; and Sebastián Aëbert, Project Coordinator of Konrad Adenauer Foundation; presented the certificates of the Milada Horáková Award and a picture of the Czech heroine painted by Martín Dinatale, to two students of international relations from Salta: Clara Wolmy and Agustín Molina Tilián.

 

After the Milada Horáková Awards ceremony, Filip Kanda, Deputy Head of Mission of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Argentina, referred to the Gratias Agit Award granted to Gabriel Salvia, General Director of CADAL, by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic.

 

Finally, Dolkun Isa, from the World Uyghur Congress, spoke in English on “The Uyghur Genocide: China's Repressive Reign”, moderated by María de los Ángeles Lasa, academic advisor of CADAL.
