With the participation of guest speakers Darryl Dunn, ambassador of New Zealand, and the journalists Horacio Bafico, Gabriel Pastor and Nelson Fernández, CADAL organized at Radisson Victoria Plaza Hotel a new meeting of Foro Latinoamericano Montevideo with the presentation of 2009 edition of the research report “Democracy, Markets and Transparency”.
The Forum began with a presentation by Gabriel Salvia, Chairman of CADAL, on the objectivs, methodology and results of the research report "Democracy, Markets and Transparency 2009". Then, an analysis of how Uruguay could improve in the ranking was given, with the economic challenges towards development which was in charge of economist Horacio Bafico, Analist of ''Economía&Mercado'' of EL PAIS newspaper and professor at Universidad ORT. The, Nelson Fernández, columnist of EL OBSERVADOR newspaper, officer of CADAL in Uruguay and professor at Universidad Católica, referred to the challenges to improve Uruguayan democracy. To end the panel, the third aspect regarding development was in charge of Gabriel Pastor, Coordinator of training and publications of the weekly ''BUSQUEDA'' and professor at Universidad de Montevideo who referred to the challenges of a wider opening of Uruguay in terms of transparency.
The closure of the Forum was in charge of Darryl Dunn, Ambassador of New Zealand in Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay, who review the history of his countries and the political decisions that turned it into the leader of the "Democracy, Markets and Transparency" ranking.
