Jorge Castro is the President of the Institute of Strategic Planning and South Forum. He was the Secretary of Strategic Planning of the Presidency of the Nation. He is a columnist for “La Nacion”, Clarin and Perfil and author of several books on international politics. Professor at institutions of higher education in the country (UBA , USAL , ISEN , FLACSO) and abroad (NATO ). He is a founding member of public debate forums “Second Centenary and the American Dream”. He has been honoured by the Federal Republic of Brazil and the Government of Chile. He is the author of "El desarrollismo del siglo XXI" ( 2013 ).
Manuel Cuesta Morua is a historian from the University of Havana, specializing in Contemporary History in Asia. He did postgraduate studies in political science, economics, international relations and anthropology. He is an opponent of the Cuban regime. He was the Secretary General of the Democratic Socialist Movement. He is Founder and President of Arco Progresista Party. He is the Coordinator of the Platform "Nuevo Pais" , which brings together some of the Cuban dissidents inside the island. He is author of "Ensayos progresistas desde Cuba".
Gabriel C. Salvia is Chairman and General Director of the Center for the Opening and Development of Latin America (CADAL). A Journalist and human rights activist, he regularly writes analytical, opinion and context articles for El País (Spain) , the news agency Diarios y Noticias (DYN), the newspaper “La Nacion” and Infobae news website. He is the author of over 200 articles, research reports, interviews with high profile personalities and producer of several audiovisuals. He wrote four books, including "Diplomacy and Human Rights in Cuba: From the Black Spring to the release of political prisoners”.
Patricio Degiorgis has a degree in Political Science, with undergraduate studies at the Universidad de Belgrano, the Libera Universita Internazionale degli Studi Sociali (Italy) and Fundación Ortega y Gasset (Spain) . He obtained a Masters degree in Communal Law of the European Union at Universidad de Alcalá ( Spain ) and completed a degree in Law . He is the Director of Degrees in Political Science and International Relations at Universidad de Belgrano (UB ) and Director of the European Union Chair at UCES. He is the Editor in charge of the journal “Latin American Debates”, “Latin American Network of University Cooperation”.
The journal “ Latin American Debates” is an electronic publication by the Latin American Center for Advanced Studies (CLEA) , an institution created at the request of the XII Assembly of Rectors of the Latin American Network of University Cooperation (RLCU) held in the city of San Pablo on the 24th and 25th of October 2002. Through networking, problems of our continent can be addressed, thereby enhancing the research capacity in our universities . The publication is based on the principles of ideological pluralism and the defense of the values of political democracy ; within this framework, all researchers who wish to lend their support from a multidisciplinary viewpoint in order to contribute to a better understanding of Latin American reality are welcomed .
