Promotion of the Political Opening in Cuba
Václav Havel: international solidarity with Cuban democrats
CADAL closed its 2022 event series in the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Buenos Aires.
The meeting united activists, diplomats, politicians, officials, academics, journalists, and representatives of culture, sports, and civil society.
The opening words were given by, S. E. Lubomir Hladik, the Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Argentina, followed by Cuban activist Kirenia Núñez, who described the human rights situation in her country. Núñez and María Matienzo are living in Buenos Aires under temporary asylum.
For his part, Gabriel Salvia, General Director of CADAL, thanked the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Buenos Aires’s hospitality, congratulated the Czech Republic on assuming the presidency of the UN Human Rights Council, and presented Václav Havel’s 2004 video message on Cuba.
The evening was closed by the Atemporal Trio: Mario Miguel García Piña, Noslen Porrúa, and Jessica Zequeira.
