In the year of the Covid-19 pandemic, CADAL quickly adapted itself by organizing events virtually, publishing articles, reports, and books, and working on exchanges with colleagues from civil societies. All of this, amid important organizational changes that included the redesign of the website, the definition of five projects with their respective initiatives, and the renewal of part of the staff.

Human Rights Defended by Dictatorships?
Recently, a third of the members of the UN Human Rights Council were renewed with China, the biggest dictatorship in the world, accumulating no less than 180 votes which gives proof to the assumption that several developed democracies voted in China's favour. The same applies to Cuba and Saudi-Arabia which have received 160 and 152 votes, respectively.

Observatory of International Relations and Human Rights
Coinciding with the International Day of Human Rights, CADAL’s Program for International Democratic Solidarity reports that it already has 10 volunteers for the Observatory of International Relations and Human Rights. Countries that have a volunteer assigned to monitor are: Bahrain, Chad, China, Laos, Central African Republic, Equatorial Guinea, North Korea, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan and South Sudan. For now are vacant Eritrea, Belarus, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
